Karolyn traveled with me to help raise great money for great children! I met Zachary Reetz who has been the face of the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. After surviving a fatal blood infection and small chance of survival, he is today an inspiration for MANY people. He has a spirit that is unforgettable and meeting the Reetz family was the highlight of my night! Although he did find time to brag how him and Katie Stam are on first name basis...I found it adorable! I also had the pleasure of meeting two wonderful performers, Eli and Austin, who were involved in America's Got Talent. Austin also has a beautiful story of finding music along his journey in fighting cancer. If you ever need a reminder about just how precious life is, make more time for these children and their stories.

All of the folks got a kick out of the girls sharing my crown and sash and one of the girls even got a ride on one of the resident's walkers! This was refreshing for me to see young children understanding how special it is to spend time with someone from another generation. I hope that you at home make time for generations older than you!

Bringing together young students and Veterans is exactly the heart of my program, "Connecting Generations." It was a beautiful thing to see Veterans sitting down children to tell their stories and for the children to ask them questions about what it was like to give up so much back home. I had the privilege to speak to all of the generations that were present and sit down and eat lunch with all of them! My favorite part of the program was being able to dance and sing with the children to a song celebrating America!

Rachel, one of the young women I met through Warren's Cranberry Fest, made the drive to come and see me---what a sweetheart! I must say, the highlight of my evening was getting a picture with one of my classmate's newborn baby girl!

What a beautiful night where the Lord truly brought together many individuals, of all ages, to share their talents. I had the pleasure to take part in the show as the Emcee and perform my talent. There were many performers who auditioned and then submitted their talent on YouTube. The students with a high number of votes, were chosen to perform for the final talent show. It was a neat set-up where after each performance the judges would provide feedback on every talent. Michelle, one of my dance students took 1st place with her entertaining tap routine! I look forward to hearing about this event next year!

This was such a unique appearance filled with the life of my platform! I contacted Colonial Center and asked if they would bring their local elementary schools to the center for a program with the older adults. I got a real kick out of driving by the children walking with their teachers to the center and honking and waving in my Miss Wis Mobile! During the presentation I taught a dance and we sang together! The children were able to interact with the older adults and understand how precious the intergenerational relationships are! This was a perfect venue to share my platform and I plan to set up more opportunities like this!
Holmen, WI- 7th grade leadership day- November 20th
I was asked to give a series of 45 minute presentations to the 7th graders. I focused my topic to be around my story of perserverance and faith. I talked about the role models that I have in my daily life and even how as a 7th grader, I was always setting goals on sticky notes and striving to achieve them. I had some in depth conversations with the 7th graders and was very impressed by their questions. I asked the students to write down a goal that they had on a sticky note and some chose to share their goal in front of their class. Otherwise, I told the students to E-mail and tell me their goals and how they will work to reach them. I was smiling that evening when my E-mail box was flooded! I know that the students were provided with multiple speakers that influenced them in so many positive ways!
La Crosse, WI- Dancing with the La Crosse Stars- November 28th
For the past three years I've been actively involved in a fundraiser for the American Red Cross. Cheryl from the Red Cross came up with a brilliant idea that has raised phenomenal amounts of money for a great cause! I was so pleased to be apart of the event again and with a great partner, Dr. Terry Cowgill. Terry worked extremely hard to have crisp, clean dance moves and raised over 10,000! We did a Patrick Swayze tribute and performed to "I've had the Time of My Life," from Dirty Dancing! In the beginning Terry said, "Nobody puts Miss Wisconsin in the corner!" The bib you see on me in the photos, is my dental bib! And yes, in case your wondering...we did perform the "BIG LIFT!" Although the lift wasn't as flawless as we had done it in rehearsals, we still had a great performance! By the end of the night over $45,000 was raised!!
West Bend, WI- West Bend Christmas Parade- November, 29th

Sunday morning I was off to a beautiful community that I had never been to! It reminded me a lot of the La Crosse area. It was a stunning night for a parade. Florence, my director a few years back, let me borrow her coat to wear in the parade! I also had with a lovely coat I received from one of my judges the first year at Miss Wisconsin! Fond du Lac, WI- Boy Scout Troop 702/Danny's Eagle Scout Court of Honor- December 6th
At my appearance at the Boy Scout Jamboree in September, I met many scouts and troop leaders. One of the young scouts that I met was Danny. His family asked for me to be a speaker at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor. I have NEVER been so impressed by a young man. Danny exemplifies all of the characteristics of an excellent Boy Scout...and now Eagle Scout. He and his family were so welcoming! It was fun seeing a lot of the Boy Scouts from the Jamboree and boy did I get a kick out of how well they remembered me and all of the "brave" activities I participated in at the jamboree. One of them kindly reminded me how horrible I was at Guitar Hero, but what he doesn't know, is that I've since practiced!!
Oshkosh, WI- EAA Christmas in the Air- December 8th
It's so wonderful to have involvement with the EAA in Oshkosh! This was my first drive in the Miss Wis Mobile with snow. If you think back to the 8th, this was the REALLY bad snow storm and there was only one person who was willing to make the scary drive with me, Sally Hefti! Even though everyone told us not to drive, we still ventured on our way to Oshkosh. Miss Oshkosh was there to share the special evening. We signed autographs, watched performances by the children, taste delicious chocolate from different vendors, took pictures by the Christmas tree, and even had the chance to greet Santa as he arrived in a helicopter in the freezing cold. We had no choice but to drive home because of an appearance the next day. It took close to 6 hours to make from Oshkosh to Holmen! Sally and I had a slow 25 mph ride home and I should have figured...but my appearance the next day was canceled! Oh well, my job is driving and I was willing to make sure my job for the day was done!

If you ever need advice on how to REALLY decorate for Christmas, The Look is the place to go! The Look puts on a Christmas open house and all proceeds go to a different cause, each year. The theme this year was reading and books. I was awed by all of the creative and unique decorations that were put up at each hair station. There were snacks, carolers, door prizes, and lots of community involvement. Miss Racine was there to also help promote the event. This was also the first time I had seen our Miss Wisconsin 2008 since she crowned me and it was a real blessing to spend some time with her! My favorite theme was Tom's station "Fancy Nancy," but next year you have to go to check it out for yourself!
New London, WI- New London Schools and Lions Club- December 14th/15th

For many years Miss Wisconsin has been visiting this community sponsored by the local Lions Club. The schools were so welcoming of my program and I loved how receptive the children were!! There was a lot of snow on this trip and the Miss Wisconsin Mobile was zipping around New London plowing through the roads, but it was a trip to remember! Having dinner and speaking with the Lions and Rotary Club for their Christmas party, was certainly a highlight of the experience. I even danced in a tiny room next to the coffee station and in between the people! Thanks to the New London community for being so supportive of the Miss Wisconsin Organization!

The Ronald McDonald House of Charity and myself are working together on promoting a new item at McDonalds that benefits the Ronald House! They are delicious cookies that are now on sale, three for a dollar! To kick off the promotion, we have been promoting cookie kick off parties! Nellie, a wonderful young woman who stayed at the House during treatments, was apart of the great event! I look forward to furthering this promotion by visiting schools in Wisconsin while promoting my platform/community service and the cookies for a cause! My highlight of the day was working the window and delivering food to customers...lets just say they were a little surprised!
La Crosse, WI- New Years Eve Family Celebration- Dec. 31st
This is the second year I've attended this well organized family event! I had the chance to watch my dance students perform, speak to the community about Miss America, and share many great conversation with folks from the La Crosse community. I had the chance to see a good friend, Miss Meghan who moved to Texas and enjoy the evening with her. Although, I must say the highlight of the night was seeing one of the little guys from the grand opening of the Miracle Field and getting a picture with him!
